PINTA NY, the Modern and Contemporary Latin American art show, opened its 7th edition on November 14, 2013 with a private preview at its new 82MERCER location. The preview event offered over 3,000 curators, collectors, art patrons, and institutional representatives a first look at the fair's new curatorial format, presenting nearly 70 exhibitors from 20 countries showcasing the work of over 160 Modern and Contemporary artists.
Reports of strong initial sales were noted by the end of the evening and exhibitors cited positive remarks about the caliber of attendees and the fair's new venue.
Notable attendees for the VIP preview included Phillips Latin American department head, Laura González, as well as the head of Christie's Latin American department, Virgilio Garza, whose own Latin American art auction opens on Monday.
The fair also attracted numerous collectors and figures from Latin American and New York society, including: Lola Obligado de Blount, Adriana Echavarria, Alejandra Fehrmann, Gloria & Carey Fieldcamp, Randy Lampert, Willy Navone, Marvin & Elsa Ross-Greifinger, Erica Roberts Staten, Evelyn Thompson and Julia Tonconogy.
PINTA NY brings together the leading artists and galleries from the United States, Latin America, Spain, Portugal and The Caribbean and is the international venue for the exhibition and promotion of Latin American, Spanish, and Portuguese art abroad.
